Xanthohumol

Xanthohumol is a prenylflavonoid that occurs almost exclusively in hop cones. It shows a wide spectrum of biological activities –it is a powerful antioxidant, prevents ischaemic heart disease and shows antifungal, antibacterial, antiviral and anti-malarial effects. However, even more interesting are its anti-tumour properties, which were discovered by researchers from Oregon State University (Corvallis, USA). Recent studies have confirmed the protective role of xanthohumol in the initiation, promotion and progression of tumours, and have described the molecular basis of the action mechanism of these phytochemicals.

We have developed an innovative, environmentally-friendly method of synthesis that allows a large amount of xanthohumol of very high purity to be obtained.
